Trying to justify the actions of a lawless mob is futile and suggests the means justifies the end result.  Do you think the innocent people who's businesses were looted or burned deserved that. Do you think that people are more or less willing to support their cause as a result of their lawlessness actions? And in the event it doesn't go your way (electoral college) you can try again next time and or convene a Constitutional Convention and try to change that aspect of the Constitution (good luck).  But the violence has to stop, it's not winning over anyone to the left. I'm not really terribly impressed by definitions from the likes of the FBI, whose definitions and enforcements are, to say the least, rather capricious, among other things.

No reasonable person is against the discipline of people who destroy body or property, assuming the discipline is equitable and fits the crime.  But for many of us, justice is a misnomer in America.   So I certainly agree with Carbon (and JFK), when such violent uprisings become a trend, it behooves us to actively investigate why, just as you go to the doctor when you have pain or disturbing bodily symptoms.  It's common sense.  Besides race relations, I would submit that, as has been noted by others on this site before, the wealth gap being too wide in any society will cause a problem.  Left unaddressed for too long and eventually the society will collapse.  This has been proven in a few hundred societies, I believe I have read.  But we are probably condemned to a repeat.

Protesters and rioters lumped together in the same category is not accurate or applicable. Last weekend alone in the Pittsburgh area, we had more than 100 protests.  Three were shown on TV, two of them because a political candidate or one of his minions showed up to speechify.  One because there was some violence in the form of scuffles between protesters and counter-protesters.  So, one (not really very) violent protest out of 108.  But to hear some people talk, virtually every street in America is on fire and being looted.  And grown people going on as if unaware that this is an election year, full of BS, sprinkled with extra BS and vitriol due to polarization and the worldwide love-hate relationship with Donald Trump.

I agree with Carbon's rather pessimistic take on the likelihood of change re: the protests.  No matter who is in office, this change will only occur when we confront the issues behind the protests, and realize that as we point fingers at the protesters and the violence, we are betrayed in truth by our own fingers pointing back at us.  No matter who is our leader, as long as we remain bat-blind, Dumb-Dora deliberately obtuse, and day-long stubborn, nothing is going to change.

Oh so now the left are the patriots engaged in a revolutionary struggle LOL, thought patriotism and anyone who waved the flag or quoted the Constitution was linked to white nationalism and was a fascist according to the left and a enemy of the state according to Pelosi. Yes well I think we can safely rule out any possibility of a revolution unless hurt feelings be it real or imagined are off the table, in the event of any potential revolution by the leftist. But I digress, there are bigger problems right now in the US, in the fact the rose garden at the WH got rearranged and apparently it's no bueno.

As for rudeness, etc., what various people say, name-calling, etc., it "doesn't affect the price of eggs" in my life, and only reflects on the "rude" name-callers themselves.  One wonders what they taught their children about name-calling and how to conduct oneself if disagreements occur, but other than that, whatever!

The US is full of people with all kinds of beliefs.  That is the kind of country America was set up to be.  Perhaps the only way to make some people happy is to divide the country, as has been suggested elsewhere, to accommodate both red and blue voters, each on its own side of the line.  And some people, once they were comfortably ensconced on their side of the Divided States Of America, would still find something to b!t¢h about.

Thank you, Witchy, yes, you're absolutely right.  Unfortunately, there are always going to be those who do not, will not see that any change is necessary, till someone they love becomes part of one of the groups of folks who are ill-treated.  Like if their son or daughter marries someone of color, and they have biracial grandchildren, and they get to see up close how POC are (mis)treated.  Or if their son or daughter comes out to them as gay, as this lady discovered:

That book was made into a pretty good movie.  Funny as I am writing this I am watching the noon news, where it was announced that our annual Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival was cancelled due to Covid.  And the fella in charge of the festival said, God willing, the Festival will return next year, because, "After the plague, comes the Renaissance!"  Hopefully that is, indeed, what will happen.

That was a like a month and half ago, and in a different thread. I take it there must have been something in this thread that triggered you? Although what it was is not clear, hence the question. Not sure why the lag unless maybe you just don't like the opinion? And that last part is rhetorical, of course you don't like the opinion.

I believed you were socialist or communist because you support the democrat party on this board.  I don't get insulted from people I will never know , but thanks for the defense.
