HEADING FROM THE MAIN DEPOT TOWARD MAIN CITIES This on Steve Quale's site at http://www.stevequayle.com/index1.html
THIS COMES FROM CB REPORTS AND IS CREDIBLE. ALSO, I HAVE A FRIEND THAT USED TO WORK WITH ME IN PITTSBURGH'S LARGEST HOSPITAL HAS REPORTED THAT THE EMERGENCY ROOMS ARE GEARING UP FOR A DANGEROUS OUTBREAK. THIS SWINE FLU THING IS NOT SOME HARMLESS THING. I THINK IT MAY BE A PRECURSOR TO MARTIAL LAW. I WILL ADVISE OF FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS
Any one able to follow up - gnfin/waterboy?

This should not be cause for additional alarm. At phase 5 I think it is safe to assume that the gov't is preparing by mobilizing various assets in case they are needed.

I thnk that if it is true about the trucks..then there is a bigger problem happening because this flu is in reality no worse than what we see in winter...

Considering that the DHS stated they would be reacting to this as if it were a full pandemic, distributing FEMA trailers, mobile medical facilities and even body bags is probably part of the plan they're executing. Likely there's a check-list of "things to do" and frankly I'd be surprised if FEMA setting up stations near large cities isn't on it.
We've seen in the past that it takes FEMA a while to get in gear - seeing trucks on the road today is more likely in response to last week's decision to treat this as a pandemic than it is to any new data from today or yesterday. IMO, of course.
For now I'd say wait and see. Flu causes 36k+ deaths a year in this country and hundreds of thousands sick. They may be looking at this from a standpoint that since immunity to seasonal flu doesn't translate into immunity to this H1N1 strain, even if it's mild they'll still have twice the caseload going into this fall, and local healthcare systems are going to be brought to their knees without help.

Well, quite frankly, I'd be upset if ERs were not gearing up, just in case. Perhaps some states have requested FEMA trailers for portable clinics, more power to them for preparing, just in case. It would not be a good idea to wait until you are overwhelmed with cases to wish you had prepared in advance. After all, we are at Phase 5, it's time to be doing something. |

If you trust FEMA, you can read today's situation update:
http://www.fema.gov/emergency/reports/2009/nat043009.shtm They state the following: One quarter of the Strategic National Stockpile of anti-viral medications, personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection devices is being released to the states. My guess would be that the national stockpile is big, and it might take a few trucks to move 25% of it out to the states, of which we have 50. If you don't like FEMA, and love conspiracy, just Google "FEMA flu conspiracy" and choose whatever level of reality suits you. I don't doubt that we aren't getting the whole story, but really, does anyone believe that the government is actually competent enough to pull off a huge conspiracy of any sort? |

The way to avoid panic is to keep the burner warm before the water boils. We have 6 months. The just in time delivery system should hold up over six months of heavy buying. It would not hold up under panic buying.......Think about it.

I don't think the Govt is out to get us...they need us ...we pay taxes. And look how upset they are when we don't buy...we fuel the economy. So go buy a little food just in case...get some chocolate...chips, Americans like their comfort food. If you stay away from public places, shop early morn few people...you can stay out of the ER. I went out and bought a few things. I got frozen chicken, fish. I have a lot of the osilli whatever ...hard to spell and pronounce...major marketing error.

People are dying in Mexico. This is no ordinary flu & the CDC doesn't know how bad this will turn out to be. It could continue to be mild in the U.S. or it could get worse. It's too early to tell.

Heck yea, they could pull it off.
They've gotten away with plenty of stuff before.
Why would they? Because the world is overpopulated.
'nuff said lol

Oh - also - it appears this bug has perfected the art of transportation - so if you're going to go into hiding then leave now (unless it's to late - don't go taking the bug bush with you), there seems to be some time delay in between the infection and the symptoms, in some cases almost 7 days. Because of that picking this bug is already everywhere.
Don't be super worried about the bug - worry about running out of drugs or the bug learning how to side step our only defence instead. Our only defence of which we have nowhere near enough of.... lol.
We cant win this one.
Not this time.
Perhaps afterwards the world might consider throwing the trillions of dollars this is going to cost into better global defences so it doesn't happen again.
We Live and learn. Slowly.
