OK, I can accept the need to monitor the web during the Red alert phase of a pandemic but WHY do they plan to continue it post pandemic, during the Green phase? Do they assume on going societal issues??? Thanks again Rick for scrounging this up! I don't know what I would do without you! Debi |

Seventy chicken found dead at Vasco Press Trust of India Panaji, February 24, 2006 Around seventy chicken were found dead in Baina locality of Vasco town 30 kms from Panaji on Thursday evening, with the state authorities ruling out that the deaths were due to bird flu. "Initial reports are clear that the mortality is due to dacillary white diarrohea and stress due to change in climate," animal husbandry minister Fransisco Pacheco said. The animal husbandry department swung into action after 70 chicken were found dead at the backyard of five houses in Baina locality of Vasco town, he said. Two different veterinary officers -- one attached to local unit and another to disease investigating unit at Panaji conducted postmortem of the dead chicken and have ruled out bird flu, the minister said. "There are cases of mortality this time of the year due to change in climate," he said adding, that the samples of birds have been sent to Pune laboratory. "We have kept strict watch on the place where the incident occurred," Pacheco said. |
