Do the states hold elections every 2 years?  Looking at whiteboard almost all stated are 2 yr spread...

Does this doctors office realize that USA isn't only country being affected???

Wow, just WOW.

If it's to be - it's up to me!

Yep. All House members are elected every 2 years. And yeah, being US centric can warp the brain.

Just got a call from my sister. She’s in Vegas. Her husband is attending a trade show. She’s in the casino playing slots. They flew coach.

She wanted to know what I thought about people on the plane wearing masks.

If she doesn’t catch Wu I think I’m gonna have to shoot her.

YCFS!

Oy vey!

I suppose at 97 one doesn’t give a damn anymore. But your sister, like my beloved idiot sister, should be more responsible with your moms life.

I swear the older I get the more I realize how little I understand people.

Fact: Over 80% of those infected with the coronavirus will have mild or no symptoms

Fact: The United States has nearly 330 MILLION citizens

Fact: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases are under 4000 per the CDC website

Fact: The CDC says there have been 68 fatalities attributed to the coronavirus

Fact: The CDC says there have been 36 million cases of the flu this season

Fact: According to the CDC there have been more than 22,000 deaths attributed to the flu and 370,000 hospitalizations

Fact: People ARE overreacting to the coronavirus.  The proof?  The run on toilet paper and other common commodities.  We are afraid to go to school and work.

Opinion: People are stupid!  We have allowed the hype about this lame virus to make us turn into chickens afraid that we'll get a cough!  Yes, those at high risk should take precautions.  But those at high risk are over 60 (like me(61)) with underlying health conditions (like me (diabetes, etc.))

People are stupid!

I'll bite.

Look up the word exponential.  If you understood it you would see why this virus is so dangerous.

It is just starting out.  Hitler did not kill anyone as a child, neither did Stalin or Pol Pot; they had to get going first.  The virus has only been spreading for 3 months.  Based on current projections, it is due to kill between 1/4 and 1/2 billion.  Partly by its own death rate and contagiousness and partly by tying up worldwide medical services, so more people die of other things.

If we find effective treatments and or a vaccine it may kill many less.  But there has never been either for a coronavirus in the past.

If however you continue to fail to understand exponential, well, YCFS.

Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

Talked to my sister tonight.  I said there will be a lot of deaths,  her reply in a sarcastic voice, "Well, we'll see."

She thinks this is not coming and that lots of people will not die.  Am I the one that is wrong.  Are we shutting down all of this for nothing?

The damn doctor 's office needs to get its facts straight.  SARS was 2003, was long over before 2004 election.  Gimme a break...

No offence FluMom - but I'm praying your sister, my SIL & niece etc are right and you and I are so wrong we'll be able to 'laugh ourselves out the door' a year or 2 from now.  That's not what my gut tells me...but I sure am hoping/praying for that.

If it's to be - it's up to me!

I think you've wandered onto the wrong website. You obviously know it all so you don't need any of us. Or perhaps you're just looking for a good argument with someone to justify your position of denial and fear. Either way, you don't belong here. Perhaps you can find another site more suited to people like you. Then you can all stick your heads in the sand together.

You can't fix stupid.
